Discover some Hidden Gems of Wauwatosa
Moss Universal Park (Formerly Wisconsin Avenue Park)
Formerly known as Wisconsin Avenue Park, Moss Universal Park is a hidden gem nestled in Wauwatosa, WI that’s currently in the midst of a fantastic transformation into a Universal Ability Park. The Ability Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide people impacted by disabilities with a daily opportunity to be fit, active, healthy, and play, has teamed up with Milwaukee County Parks to create the first universal park in America. Universal means accessible to everyBODY, regardless of age or ability.
Moss Universal Park will feature 18 acres of recreational space that caters to people of all ages and abilities. From play to fitness. Athletics to picnics. Fitness pockets throughout the park will be built into the half-mile accessible path, as well as, open areas for yoga and meditation. From playground equipment to an inclusive challenge course, there are options for everyone in the family.
Moss Universal Park will have fitness and therapy equipment to facilitate recreation and rehab for children, young adults, adults, veterans, and the elderly. A Universal Baseball Field will be the country’s first all-inclusive baseball field, for all levels and abilities of play. There will also be eco-friendly additions like green infrastructure and stormwater management systems.
The park is located adjacent to the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, home to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital. It is blocks from the Milwaukee County Zoo, which also provides universal accommodations, and Wauwatosa’s Hart Park which incorporates accessible playgrounds and play spaces.
Moss Universal Park is evolving into a place where nature’s beauty meets inclusive fun. Wauwatosa welcomes and invites everyone to enjoy the great outdoors together!
