Discover some Hidden Gems of Wauwatosa
Wauwatosa Welcomes a Giant
A new type of magic is coming to Wauwatosa! The latest addition to Wauwatosa’s upcoming park on 116th Street is an awe-inspiring, unique landmark for everyone to enjoy. A giant troll sculpture crafted by international artist Thomas Dambo will enchant our park and art scene for years to come.
Thomas Dambo is a renowned artist from Denmark known for his larger-than-life sculptures made from recycled materials. His imaginative pieces have been featured in more than 20 countries, and he has a vision of placing a troll sculpture in every US state. This makes the Wauwatosa installation particularly special, as it will be his first piece in Wisconsin.
From the mural district on North Avenue to events like ART64, Wauwatosa has dynamic public art initiatives for everyone to explore. Visitors and residents alike have the opportunity to uncover hidden gems and discover something new in their trip or every day activities. Dambo’s installation piece is planning to be installed in Spring 2025.
This sculpture is funded through hotel/motel taxes, which are fees paid by visitors staying in Wauwatosa hotels or Airbnb accommodations. These funds are designated exclusively for initiatives that attract tourists and visitors to the community, such as marketing, tourism facilities, and tourism events.
